Cornflowers and Nationalism, 2023

Blue glass, fishing wire, various dimensions

My interest in the Conservative People's Party of Estonia was sparked by the election posters near my student dormitory. This installation examines the effect of listening to political parties' slogans, whether willingly or unwillingly.

EKRE is represented by a distinct shade of blue and cornflowers, here I have attempted to merge these two elements. In a collision between reality and the surreal, the ears have been stained, and several have become hybrids of human and political symbols. I would like to highlight the dangers of hate speech disguised as cultural preservation as well as how political ideologies affect a country's national identity.
