Artist Statement
My background in archaeological conservation has led me to develop an object-centered artistic practice that explores the dynamic relationship between humans and objects, recognizing their inherent agency and the impact they have on us. I am fascinated by how objects convey sensory cues that help us recall and process emotions, and I work with a diverse range of materials. During my Master’s studies in Contemporary Art at the Estonian Academy of Arts, I discovered a particular affinity for glass, which has become integral to much of my work.
Through installations that invite reflection on cultural, personal, and sensory themes, I treat objects as carriers of meaning that can express values and mediate conflicts, offering insights into both individual and societal identities. I am drawn to the tangibility of objects, often creating suspended installations to emphasize their physicality and materiality, exploring how they transform space and perception.
I’ve had the privilege of participating in events like Kunstfest Artspace Bremerhaven in Germany and residencies in Italy and Lithuania, along with solo and group exhibitions in Estonia, Germany, and the UK. I was honoured to receive the 2023/2024 Estonian Government scholarship for international students and the 2024 Helju Rossmann Schneider stipend. Currently, I am an artist-in-residence at the Altes Spital Solothurn in Switzerland, where I’m developing work around themes of failure, drawing on concepts such as wabi-sabi and object-oriented ontology.
